In a never before seen act, earlier today the Minneapolis City Council has unanimously voted to dismantle their city’s police department in retaliation to George Floyd’s death.
According to the Daily Caller, the City Council will now set up a “community-based public safety model,” to replace their soon to be disbanded police department.
“The murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, by Minneapolis police officers is a tragedy that shows that no amount of reforms will prevent lethal violence and abuse by some members of the Police Department against members of our community, especially Black people and people of color,” a handful of council members said in the resolution.
Here is a recent video of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey getting booed after he tried to tell liberal citizens of his city that he thought the abolishment of the city’s police department was a bad idea:
